MY STORY...
Richa Shukla is an Abstract Realism artist known for her soul-touching and transformative works that blend reality and imagination. Born and raised in the diamond capital of India, Richa’s passion for art blossomed at a young age. She spent her childhood sketching with her father on sandy beaches, doodling on her denim, and filling the back of her schoolbooks with sketches. Her love for art led her to pursue formal studies in commercial arts, culminating in two successful exhibitions in her home country within a year.
In 2006, Richa moved to Canada with her husband, where she devoted herself to raising her children. For nearly 15 years, her artistic aspirations took a backseat as she embraced the role of a mother. However, a fateful encounter with a mentor on social media rekindled her creative spirit. Over the past four years, Richa has reemerged as a passionate artist, creating compelling artworks and commissions that resonate with collectors around the world.

MY ARTISTIC PROCESS
My creative journey begins with spontaneous, messy sketches, where intuition shapes the initial lines and forms. These sketches lay the foundation of my work, capturing the essence and energy of the subject while establishing the framework for what’s to come.
From there, I sometimes experiment with acrylics and mixed media, layering textures, colors, and contrasts to create depth and dimension. This phase is where I explore the interplay between light, shadow, and movement, allowing the composition to evolve organically.
Once the base layers are complete, I turn to my primary medium—oils. The richness and versatility of oil paints bring vibrancy and life to my artwork. I embrace intentional disorder during this stage, letting the painting grow and transform naturally. This process mirrors life itself, where chaos often unfolds into harmony and balance.
Each layer becomes a dialogue between control and spontaneity, as I refine my vision while staying open to unexpected discoveries. It is a transformative process—one that reflects not only the evolution of the artwork but also the deeper journey of self-expression and connection.
